In one of the most bizarre car-bike crash videos we’ve seen—and sadly, we’ve see a lot—an Australian cyclist wound up in an amazing situation.
The cyclist, according to YouTuber Dracothian (uploader of the dashcam footage), was riding through an intersection in the Prahran suburb of Melbourne on April 19 when he was hit by a car—and somehow bounced over its hood and up onto its roof, where he landed sitting upright.
When the driver realized he had a new passenger, he pulled over a half-block away; got out of his vehicle; and spoke to the cyclist—still on top of the car. Plenty of drivers and pedestrians had stopped around the car by this point, ready to offer the cyclist some aid: One even helped him down off the car.
It’s unclear what transpired next, since the dashboard cam didn’t pick up sound, but the driver eventually got back in the car and left the scene of the accident—hopefully not before making a follow-up plan with the cyclist, who seemed relatively unscathed but in shock.
