The UnitedHealthcare pro cycling team is a UCI professional cycling team located in the United States. Momentum Sports Group is the group that runs the cycling team. The team’s discipline is road bicycle racing. When did the team start? The team began in 2009 after the reorganization of the Ouch Pro Cycling Team that was headlined by Floyd Landis. When Floyd Landis left the team, there was a need for a reorganization and team UnitedHealthcare (UHC) was born.
The UHC headquarters is in Minnetonka, Minnesota. What bicycle brand does the team use for road cycling? The team rides on Orbea bicycles. Theirry Attias is the general manager of the team. Over the last view years, some of the top wins for the team include the top 5 overall at the Tour of Alberta, Chris Jones; The Gateway Cup omnium points win by Carlos Alzate and the Colorado Classic by taking three podium places and the white Drink Rino Sprint Jersey lead by Travis McCabe.
There are several sponsors for the team including Shimano, Orbea, Jakroo, Smith, Honey Stinger, Ogio, Vision, Prologo, and others.
2018 UHC Pro Cycling Team
The UHC team consists of 16 cyclists including the following riders: Janier Acevedo, Carlos Alzate, Alex Cataford, Johnny Clark, Daniel Eaton, Sebastian Haldo, Adrian Hegywardy, Daniel Jaramillo, Luke Keogh, Gavin Mannion, Eric Marcotte, Travis McCabe, Lachlan Morris, Tanner Putt, Serghei Tvetcov, and Hugo Velazquez.
Of these riders, the newest ones are Eric Marcotte, Serghei Tvetcov, and Hugo Velazquez. These cyclists are all new to the team for 2018. Let’s look at the newest members.
With the addition of Hugo Velazquez, the team will be getting a competitive cyclist. His top results in 2017 were for the 2017 Pan Am Scratch Race Champion and the Tusnad Cycling Team stage in the Tour de Serbia. In addition, in 2016, he was the 3rd stage national champion in Argentina. Velazquez comes from Argentina and was born in 1992 making him 25 years of age.
Eric Marcotte was born in 1980 in the United States. He is coming from team Cylance Cycling. His top results for the last couple of years include 2nd at the Winston Salem Cycling Classic in 2016 and the National Championship in the US Road Race in 2014.
The last edition to the team is Serghei Tvetcov. He comes from Romania and was born in 1988 making him 29 years of age. He previously raced for Jelly Belly p/b Maxxis. His top result was second in 2017 at the Colorado Classic.
Training Camp and Upcoming Events
The cyclists have been training in Medellin, Columbia. They first trained there last year and found the roads to be perfect for their training camp. The weather was also just right for winter training instead of the cold climates in Minnesota. Lastly, the team is already scheduled for races in the South America Tour of San Juan in Argentina and the Vuelta Columbia Oro YPaz. The team is looking forward to returning to the United States in April.
